Aigio is today the second-largest city by population of the Regional Unit of Achaia. It is built by the sea. The areas of special interest for tourists are the old part of the city (with elements of the typical architecture of the early 20th century) and the seashore from the railway station (which provides an example of the railway architecture of the early 20th century) to the church of Panagia Tripiti, where the old raisin warehouses (all now internally transformed into luxury cafe) can be seen, as well as the old paper factory (which provides a typical example of the industrial architecture of the beginning of the last century).
Finally, the coastline of Egialia has also many beaches with crystal clear waters. Indicatively, we can mention the award-winning, blue flag beach of Aliki, near the homonymous lagoon.
