The forest of Foloi is one of the rarest oak forests in Europe and unique in the Balkans. It is located in the Region Unit of Ilia (Peloponnese), in the southwest of Mount Erymanthos, and according to mythology, it was named after the king of the Centaurs Folos, a friend of Hercules. On the plateau of Foloi, the oaks cover an area of many thousand acres, creating one of the few forests of this kind in Europe. Many are the oak trees, which the locals call Kapeli, but there are also big trees with large trunks and many branches.

The forest is located in the water catchment areas of the Erymanthos and Pinios rivers and is a rich ecosystem with diverse fauna and flora. In its hospitable embrace are found, among others many kinds of birds but also wild boars, jackals and foxes.
