ACHAIA CLAUSS was founded in 1861 and is the oldest winery in Greece. It extends on the slopes of Mount Panachaikos, just 8km. from the center of Patras (Peloponnese). It was founded by the Bavarian Gustav Clauss, who came to Patras in 1854 to work for a German raisin export company. On one of his excursions, he visited the area and was impressed by the enchanting landscape and its vineyard. Initially, he bought a vineyard of just 60 acres and he finally created the Castle-Winery that is still in function until today.
