Pyrgos is a city in the northwestern Peloponnese, it is the capital city of the Regional Unit of Ilia and the seat of the Municipality of Pyrgos, with a population of 24,359 inhabitants. The city of Pyrgos is 308 km away from Athens via Patras and 293 km via Tripoli. It is located 20 km from Ancient Olympia and 13 km from Katakolo, which is considered its port.
The warehouses of A.S.O. in Pyrgos is a building area, of five separate stone buildings, built in 1932 to store the raisins of the area. It was built by V. Fratzis and then bought by the Autonomous Raisin Organization. It is located behind the main railway station of Pyrgos between Epamineondas Charilaou streets and an anonymous municipal road.
Today, by official decision of the competent public bodies, the warehouses of ASO in Pyrgos will be converted into a Multifunctional Educational & Cultural Center.
Also, from February 2018, the connection of the building with the Olympia International Film Festival for Children and Youth was added and since then the implementation of the design has entered its final phase with the launch of the required procedures.
Regarding the Center of Youth Audiovisual Creation, it will include a projection and multifunctional room for 600-800 people, two projection and multifunctional rooms for 100-120 people, an exhibition hall and of other uses, a high definition film studio, a studio animation and sound recording, high definition editing suites, workshops and meeting rooms, as well as rooms of administration, library, film library, stage production workshop etc.
